Susan Penrose Brickley

June 24, 1940 — July 10, 2024

Lancaster

Susan Penrose Brickley, 84, of Lancaster, PA peacefully passed away after a short illness on July 10, 2024, surrounded by her two children. Born June 24, 1940, Sue was the daughter of William Markley Penrose and Nellie Mable Moore Penrose. She graduated from Cedar Cliff High School in New Cumberland, PA, and married her sweetheart Richard Brickley in 1963. Sue and Dick moved to King of Prussia, PA in 1972 where they raised their children and were active members of the community. Over the years, Sue worked for the Harrisburg Patriot-News, ServiceMaster, and Fox Realty companies. Sue and Dick were faithful members of Valley Forge Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir for many years. In 2010, they moved to Woodcrest Villa in Lancaster, PA to enjoy their retirement.

Sue was a devoted wife, mother, and friend who had a wicked sense of humor and a deep passion for family, Christmas, mystery novels, all things British, cats, shopping, needlework, ceramics, eating out (and not cooking), and staying connected with her many friends. She and Dick traveled the world including fantastic trips to Bermuda, London, Italy, and Russia, but it could be said her favorite vacations were to Ocean City, NJ with her family and friends.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Richard. She is survived by her son Stephen (Juliana) of Long Beach, CA, and daughter Jennifer Deja (Thomas) of Oak Park, IL.

The family would like to thank the teams at Trillium Place as well as Hospice & Community Care for the kindness and comfort they provided.

Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Sue's life on Monday, July 15 at Parthemore Funeral Home, 1303 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA for fellowship at 11:00 am and funeral service at 11:30 am. Burial will immediately follow at Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill, PA.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to Valley Forge Presbyterian Church, 191 Town Center Road, King of Prussia, PA 19406 www.valleyforgepres.org
