Taryon Faye “Terri” Stricker, 66, of Arlington, VA, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2026. Born August 8, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Clifford B. and Joyce (Lilly) Stricker.
Terri brought joy wherever she went. An early diagnosis of Prader-Willi syndrome would require outside assistance throughout her life, but she never allowed her challenges to define her. Instead, she was known for her bright smile, quick wit, determined spirit, and ability to make others laugh. Her upbeat personality made her beloved by staff, residents, and friends throughout the 40+ years she spent in her group home community.
Terri loved cats, Disney, and cheering on the Washington Redskins. She was an avid fan of Dolly Parton and even named her pet guinea pig “Dolly” in her honor. When Terri set her mind on something, there was little anyone could do to change it—a trait her family remembers with both amusement and affection.
The opportunities provided through her group home allowed Terri to enjoy meaningful work and lasting friendships. One of her proudest moments came when she excitedly notified family of her retirement. Having lived well beyond the life expectancy once associated with her diagnosis, Terri’s family is deeply grateful for the many years, memories, and smiles they shared with her.
She is survived by her siblings, Cheryl Y. McCreary (Brett) of Mechanicsburg and Gary D. Stricker of San Diego, CA; nieces and nephews, Ryan, Alexa, Amanda, Savannah, and Dakota; and four great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clifford Stricker; and her niece, Page McCreary.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Terri’s final resting place will be with her parents at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
Terri’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of CSI-VA for the compassionate care, friendship, and support they provided throughout the years. Their kindness enriched Terri’s life and brought comfort to those who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Terri's name to Community Systems, Inc., so they can continue their mission of empowering those with unique needs.
