May 20, 2026, Terry Patrick Bowen, 77, of Dillsburg, passed into glory after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. He crossed the threshold from the land of the dying, to the land of the living, and entered into the presence of God and his eternal rest.
Born on February 13, 1949, at home in New Cumberland, Terry was the son of the late Glen Eugene Bowen and Ellen Marie (Dubbs) Bowen.
Terry was a 1967 graduate of Red Land High School, Lewisberry; a 1971 graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster earning his B.A. in Physics; and a 1973 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, earning his M.S. in Physics.
Terry and his wife, the late Patricia Louise (Fegan) Bowen, were the proud parents of two children, Christopher Patrick Bowen (wife, Jennifer), and Angela Renee (Bowen) Stroman, (husband, Duane, Sr.). He was Grandpa to Sam Bowen, Aileena Sanchez, Cora Stroman, Duane Stroman, Jr., Daniel Stroman, and great granddaughter, Isabel Sanchez.
Terry was blessed to find love a second time. In June of 2007, Terry and Karen Ruth Ross were married, and Terry became a loving step-father to her children, Elizabeth (Lake) Badorf, (husband, Steven), and Steve Lake (wife, Tiffany); and step-Grandpa to Benjamin, Matthew, Jonathan, and Karley Badorf. Terry was preceded in death by his step-granddaughter, Abigail Badorf.
Terry’s siblings are: John Bowen (wife, Louise); James Bowen, Peter Bowen (wife Bobbye), Jeffrey Bowen (wife Patricia) and Wendy (Bowen) McGovern, (husband, James).
Upon graduating from the University of Pittsburgh, Terry began his career at AMP, Inc. (currently TE Connectively) where he was employed for 43 years. Terry retired in 2016, having earned the title of Corporate Technology Fellow and Master Innovator. Terry was author and/or co-author of 59 issued US Patents.
Terry was a devout Christian who faithfully served His Lord. He was a member of Trinity Church of New Cumberland where he served in various positions over the years including, Member and/or Chair of various committees, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Advisor, choir member, and liturgist. He also played for the church’s softball team and was voted the Most Valuable Player award several times.
Terry was actively involved and served on The Walk to Emmaus and The Kairos Ministry teams.
Terry enjoyed sports and was a member of Red Land High School’s football team and wrestling squad. Terry continued to wrestle while attending Franklin & Marshall College. He also coached his daughter’s soccer team in York County. Watching and following Penn State wrestling and football, Steelers football, and IndyCar racing were among his favorite past times, especially in recent year.
Terry was loved, respected, and admired by those who knew him. He was a hard worker, honest, self-giving, and a follower of Christ.
Terry will be missed by his family and his many friends. He will be remembered as a man who cherished his family, enjoyed being with his friends, and who loved and served his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, May 28th from 10am until the funeral service at 11am at Trinity Church of New Cumberland, 415 Bridge St., New Cumberland. Burial will follow the reception in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Fairview Twp.
