Thelma "Joyce" O'Donnell

Thelma “Joyce” O’Donnell, 81, of Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle, formerly of Camp Hill and Mechanicsburg passed away Sunday, December 5, 2021 at the center.

A 1958 graduate of New Cumberland High School, she received her Associates Degree from Harrisburg Institute of Medical Arts in 1960. Joyce started her medical career as Lab Technician working her way to teaching, and ultimately oversaw the Medical Assistant program as an Administrator.

Theatre was her passion. For 45 years she contributed as an Actor, Director and Costume Designer. She was an active member of Metropolitan Repertory Company, Oyster Mill Playhouse (founding member), and Little Theatre of Mechanicsburg. She also loved reading, movies, politics, college football and most of all her family.

Joyce was born October 1, 1940 in Camden, NJ to the late Lloyd and Thelma (Ladd) Benedict. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William A. O’Donnell, Jr. and former husband Ronald R. Shuey.

She is survived by her son, Allan B. Shuey of Daphne, AL , her daughter, Amy E. Brida of New Cumberland, PA; sister, Tania L. Zerbe of Enola; grandchildren, Whitney S. Shuey, Tyler S. Shuey, Zachary R. Shuey, Isabella K. Brida, and Elizabeth A. Brida; great-grandson, Montgomery D. Cagle; and niece, Kerin L. Anderson.

Visitation will be from 10am until memorial services at 11am Friday, December 10th at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland.
