Virginia H. Ely

Virginia H. Ely, 87, formerly of Mechanicsburg, died Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Transitions Healthcare Allens Cove, in Duncannon, PA.

She retired as an elementary school teacher in the Brooklawn School District, Camden County, NJ. Virginia was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, in Mechanicsburg and played Mahjong at the Fredricksen Library, Camp Hill. Virginia was an avid reader of suspense and mystery novels.  She was also a classical music enthusiast, collected turtles, and wrote beautiful poetry.

 Born on April 30, 1936, in Honolulu, HI, she was the daughter of the late Daniel L., Sr. and Eleanor Glagow (Jones) Hine. Virginia was the widow of David Ely.

Surviving are her brothers, Daniel L. Hine Jr. of Palm Coast, FL, and William C. Hine of Elyria, OH; nieces, Carolyn L. Stine of Enola, Emily L. Stine of Enola, Kimberly A. Frantz (Ken) of Enola; grand nephews, Ethan Stine, Elliot Frantz, and Linken Frantz.  Also surviving is her dear to Virginia are her life-long friend Jan Enders, of Orion, IL.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 16, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 132 E Main St, Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. Dr. Karen J. Durbin officiating.
