It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Marne Burke, 67, of Camp Hill, PA, on Wednesday October 3rd, 2024, after a brief illness. Billy (as he was known to his family) was born on February 13, 1957, to Nancy Jane (Whitney) Burke and the late Francis Xavier Burke Jr. Billy was always someone you could count on for a laugh and could often be found surrounded by his large group of friends at some of the local Camp Hill watering holes or on the golf course.
In addition to his father, Billy was preceded in death by the love of his life, Suzanne Guarini Burke, or "Suzie," who passed away in 2014. We know it was a joyous reunion, as losing Suzie left a significant void in his life. He is survived by his mother, Nancy Whitney Burke; his daughter, Sarah Burke, and her daughter; grandson, Jaxson Cupp, lovingly known as "little man" by his Pop Pop; granddaughter, Nolini "Kenzie" Heimuli, affectionately called the "binkameister" by her Pop Pop; brother, Dr. Frank Burke (Kate); sisters, Nancy Jane Burke-Sanow (Arnie), Carol Logan, and Janet Burke; along with several nieces and nephews. We would be remiss without mentioning Billy's large group of friends whose dedication to him was second to none as they saw him through Suzie's death and his most recent illness.
As the youngest of the Burke siblings, Billy was known for following his brothers and sisters around as a child—fully embracing the role of “annoying little brother.” Over the last few years, you’d often hear him talk about the “75’ers”, the “filthy foursome,” and the “lonely hearts,” which were ways that Billy surrounded himself with people he loved and those who made him laugh. His infectious laughter and commitment to bringing people together will be dearly missed.
A celebration of Billy’s life for close friends and family will take place from 1-3PM on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at American Legion Post 143, New Cumberland, honoring him in true Billy style—with beer and denim. We hope that those who knew and loved Billy will raise a drink or hack on the course in his honor—he’d like that.
